Nothing's Fair in Fifth Grade

When I read this book I learned that one shouldn't judge somebody by their appearance. Jennifer decided she didn't like the new girl, until she began feeling sorry for her. She felt sorry when she found the new girl, Elsie, crying in the girl's room. She found out that she was a very good friend and that her social life was difficult.

Now, I don't want to give the whole book away, but has anyone else ever felt like Elsie?

  1. I have felt like Jennifer, although I don't like to admit it! I mostly identify with Elsie, though, because I have been left out of social settings too. Reading books like these allow us to realize that we're not alone in the way we act or feel about people, social settings, and difficult situations.

  2. Nothing's Fair in Fifth Grade reminded me how important it is that we do NOT judge people on the outside (who cares what someone looks like) it is what is inside that truly matters.
